First Press was born out of a desire for freedom. Both coming from travelling backgrounds, Hamish and Jimmy thought of starting a business as a way to run their work on their own terms. It wasn’t until some discoveries travelling through the U.S.A, a few sips of a cold brew in Melbourne cafes and some red wine fuelled whiteboard sessions that they realised this could be in the form of bringing cold drip to the masses.
Through the initial stages of bottling in the middle of the night to selling at freezing cold farmers markets First Press discovered that there was an appetite for this brew. There were people who were craving a pure black smooth coffee that was very different to the sugar laden milk beverages in the market. It wasn’t just us! Once this was validated First Press quickly grew from the cafes to health food stores, independent grocers and fitness centres around Australia.
