Hello from Honduras

  • 2 min read

Some call me concentrate, others call me cold brew. Some drink me straight, some use me as a base to their favourite drink. At First Press I’m affectionately known as The Big Boy, 10 shots of your finest ethically sourced organic coffee from Honduras, cold dripped for 10 hours and bottled for your convenience.

But what do I do with it?

While you are busy focusing on bringing your magic to the world, we have been working hard to bring you a slowly brewed coffee that you can have straight from the bottle.

The smooth taste of cold drip means that you don’t need to add milk or sugar to reduce the bitter taste like you might in a standard espresso, however this is a choose your own adventure and you call the shots.

The Big Boy has the equivalent amount of caffeine as 10 espresso shots, so you can simply pour it out on its own, add ice or top up with hot or cold water.

If you’re not ready to jump on the black coffee train just yet then you can add your favourite milk, or coconut cream.

Of course you can take things to the next level by adding it to your morning smoothie, combining it with your afternoon hot chocolate, or celebrate the end of a work week with an Espresso Martini.

There are no rules, just possibilities.

Tasting notes

Cold drip coffee requires timed contact with water and coffee, controlled by a slow drip and grind size. Every drop of water that flows through coffee grounds collects aromatic compounds.

The result of this process is a smooth black coffee, low in acidity and high in flavour and natural energy. It’s a less intense style of coffee from a traditional espresso without sacrificing on strength.

The Big Boy is made using 100% organic, single origin coffee beans from Honduras. In the cup, this coffee has a lot of chocolate and red fruit notes with moderate green apple acidity and a smooth and round body and caramel sweetness.

Produced by a group of farmers who are part of the Beneficio Santa Rosa supply chain in West Honduras, this coffee is certified by RFT, FT, Organic, UTZ, Cafe Practices and Bird Friendly certification bodies. Traceability and quality evaluation ensure a high grade premium coffee.
